Three time Grammy nominee guitarist and composer Doulas Lora transits with versatility through the universes of Classical and Popular Music, and has established himself as on of the most prominent artists of his generation. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Paquito d’Rivera & the Assad Brothers
Member of the Brasil Guitar Duo for over 20 years, Douglas has been nominated for a Latin Grammy as “Best Classical Music Album,” in 2018.

Currently, Douglas is pursuing his Doctoral degree at University of Southern California under Scott Tennant.
Jazz guitarist Riner Scivally has performed with Alan Broadbent, Larance Marable, Stacey Rowles and Putter Smith. He received a bachelor’s degree from Occidental College, an MM from USC, and later studied at the Scuola Civica di Milano in Italy. He is on the faculty of Pasadena City College and the Applied Music faculty of Occidental College. He has recently recorded a cd with Susan Krebs’ Jazz Aviary and has a duo cd with Swiss musician Isla Eckinger.
MAYA PROULX is a current sophomore at CSArts studying classical guitar. She started playing piano at 4 and viola at 7 but during the pandemic, Maya found her love of the guitar and has not put it down since. She currently studies with Douglas Lora on the guitar. In addition to musical instruments, Maya studied voice with the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus. When not making music, Maya loves to do art, make movies with her brother and try out new bread recipes in the kitchen.
Mini-Festival is an all-day workshop & rehearsal. Students work in groups with their current teacher along with visiting guest artists to refine their musical strengths & stretch to build new skills. Ensemble playing, improv, chord playing, rhythm building and singing all come together around a “Song of the Festival” which have included “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” “Apple Pie Blues” and “Happy Birthday.” The day’s activities culminate in an afternoon public recital showcasing solos from each student, small ensembles, and a big group jam at the end on the “Song of the Festival.”
